St. Paul's/McDonogh Heads Apr. 1-3 Boys' Games

Staying in the Empire State, Garden City takes on Ward Melville on Saturday in a showdown of New York titans. Plus, defending Class C champs Manhasset looks to extend its 36-game winning streak when it takes on a tough Cold Spring Harbor team on Friday. The Indians haven't lost since an April 7 overtime defeat to Comsewogue in 09. Meanwhile, New Jersey power Delbarton hopes to upend CHSAA Class AAA champ St. Anthony's on Friday as both teams kickstart their '11 campaigns. Expect to hear more from these lacrosse heavyweights as the season progresses.

Finally, in North Carolina action Saturday, Apex takes on Cardinal Gibbons in a much-anticipated showdown between two of the state's top programs. Both squads enter the contest undefeated and will be looking for a weekend victory to propel them for the stretch run. Cardinal Gibbons (9-0) features a stout defense that hasn't allowed more than five goals in any game this season. Apex (11-0) will counter with standout attackman Jonathan Avedesian for an offensive spark.

And in California, a trio of contests will be the focal point this weekend. San Ramon Valley (5-1) takes on Amador Valley (4-3) on Friday before Coronado (4-0) faces Foothill-Santa Ana (7-1) and La Costa Canyon (5-1) battles Torrey Pines (6-1) on Saturday.
