DeBoer's Late Goal Lifts Privateers Over Mount Ida

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 2, 2011) Maritime fought back from a 7-3 deficit before halftime to defeat visiting Mount Ida, 9-8, Saturday afternoon at Reinhart Field. Senior Jesse deBoer's (Ridge, N.Y./McGann Mercy) second goal of the game proved to be the game-winner as he broke an 8-8 tie with 49 seconds to play. Sophomore Matthew Messina ( West Sayville, N.Y.) recorded the assist on the tally, which was his third helper on the day. Seniors Andrew Marklin (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East) and Michael Hanratty (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial) also had three points in the game, as Marklin recorded a hat trick and Hanratty had two goals and an assist.
