Halls Nets Six as Slippery Rock Rolls by Shepherd

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. Amy Halls scored six goals and added an assist to lead Slippery Rock to a 20-9 win over Shepherd University in women's lacrosse action at Slippery Rock on Saturday. Casey Quinn and Katie Roof each added three goals for The Rock.

Sophomore attack/midfielder Krista Tippett (Leonardtown, MD/Leonardtown) tallied three goals and freshman attack Christina Ferrara (California, MD/Leonardtown) added a pair of goals and a game-high four assists to pace the Rams.

Freshman attack Kelsey Eagan (Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point) notched a pair of goals, while freshman attack/midfielder Shannon Carta (Davidsonville, MD/South River) and junior attack/midfielder Kaitlin Drake (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) each had a goal. The Rams also got single assists from sophomore attack Nicole Ruane (Sykesville, MD/Century) and senior defender/midfielder Lindsay Russell (Emmitsburg, MD.Catoctin).

Freshman Emily Melanson (Davidsonville, MD/South River) had 12 saves and classmate Katherine Lambert (Mt. Airy, MD/Linganore) added two in goal for the Rams. Kat Elkins had six saves for The Rock.

Slippery Rock had a 40-17 advantage in shots and a 28-21 edge in ground balls. The Rock had a 24-7 advantage in draw controls.

The Rock had a 14-6 lead at halftime.

Shepherd falls to 5-5, while Slippery Rock improves to 6-4. The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Susquehanna for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
