Nichols chipped away at Lasell's early 6-2 lead and cut it to one at the half on back-to-back goals by Melanie Chhouy (Pepperell, Mass.) and Shaughnessy. The Bison carried the momentum into the second frame, with Kathleen Dudziak (Williamstown, Mass.) and Toni Minelli (Newington, Conn.) netting a pair of goals 12 seconds apart to give Nichols their first lead since six minutes into the contest, 9-8.

Lasell then hit its stride, rattling off nine consecutive goals to go up, 18-9 before Forand broke the Lasers' momentum with an unassisted score with 8:35 left to play. Slattery later sparked the Lasers to three more strikes to close out the game.

The Bison dominated the groundball battle, led by seven pickups from Julie Monroe (Whitman, Mass.), who also had a game-high four caused turnovers. Chhouy also scooped up five groundballs.

Nichols starting goaltender Jennifer Brigham (Bristol, R.I.) took the loss with five saves and the first 15 goals allowed.
