Vu Nets Nine as Hood Outguns Notre Dame

BALTIMORE, Md.--Junior Kati Vu of Hood College (4-8) scored a school record nine goals Monday as the Blazers registered a 16-13 nonconference victory over the College of Notre Dame (Md.) (2-9).

Vu's remarkable effort Monday eclipsed the previous single-game school record of eight goals set by Tiffany Still '05. The Blazers also ended a four-game losing skid on the season.

Hood started the game with four straight goals over the first 7:41. The Gators ripped off four of their own however to knot the game at 4-4 with 12:39 to play in the stanza. The two squads alternated scores the rest of the period and Hood trailed 8-7 at halftime.

CND notched the first two tallies of the second half to assume its largest lead, 10-7, less than six minutes in. But the Blazers unleashed eight unanswered goals over a span of nearly eight minutes and went on to win by three.

Megan Feldtmose chipped in two goals while Jen Civick, Julia Banks, Abby Dyjack, Jennifer Fischer and Kelsey Blackwell tallied one apiece. Civick also collected three assists.

Hood has three Capital Athletic Conference contests remaining on the slate, beginning with a Wednesday date with St. Mary's College (Md.) at Thomas Athletic Field.
