Shenandoah Drops Heartbreaker to Centenary

WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Centenary (N.J.) kept Shenandoah University winless on the year by rallying for a 6-5 CSAC victory Saturday afternoon.

Shenandoah (0-11, 0-4 CSAC) scored the first four goals of the game in just 5:27, but was held to only one goal in the final three periods.

The Cyclones (5-3, 1-2) began their comeback with a pair of Robert Nuzzolese goals to close out the first before Nuzzolese scored the only goal of the second.

Joe Swantkoski tied it for CC with an unassisted tally at 6:34 of the third, but SU retook the advantage 42 seconds later when Sean Mack found Bryan Pope for the go-ahead tally.

Unfortunately for the Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium crowd, it would be hosts final goal of the afternoon.

Tom Montalvo, who had assisted on Nuzzolese's game-tying tally, knotted it up again at 5-5 with 2:51 to play in the third.

Just less than four minutes into the fourth, Nuzzolese netted the unassisted game winner.

Gregory Love appeared to tie it up as time expired, but the goal was waived off and Centenary had the comeback victory.

SU outshot the Cyclones 41-27, won 11 of 14 faceoffs and had a 39-21 advantage in groundballs.

The Hornets travel to Catholic on Tuesday for a non-league contest.
