PROVIDENCE, R.I. (April 9, 2011) St. John's opened the game with four straight goals and never trailed the Providence Friars en route to a 9-6 conference victory at Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex on Saturday afternoon.

St. John's (4-6, 2-1) won its third consecutive game and second straight in conference play, while Providence (3-7, 0-2) dropped its second contest in a row.

The Red Storm was led by the efforts of freshman Colin Keegan, who scored a hat trick in just his second career start. Keegan contributed three points in the Red Storm's opening string of four goals. Fellow freshman Kieran McArdle tallied four points on two goals and two assists. Sophomore Jeff Lowman was stout in goal, allowing a season-low six goals and making 14 saves.

After a defensive struggle for the majority of the first quarter with both teams defenses wreaking havoc with challenged shots, senior Ryan Herits broke the deadlock with a dodge on the right side, scoring his sixth goal of the season at the 2:46 mark.
