St. Mary's controlled draw controls and ground balls in the first half both by a 7-4 margin. The tables turned in the second half as York dominated the draw, 9-4, and converted 3 of 4 free position shots to close ranks on the Seahawks. For the game, the Seahawks edged York in ground balls, 16-11, as junior goalie Colleen Simpson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) scooped up a game-high five loose balls.

The Seahawks got three of those back as Parker dished out assists to sophomore midfielder Emily Shafer (Hollywood, Md./Leonardtown), Shackelford, and senior attacker Maggie Macleay (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) for an 11-8 SMCM lead at 5:27. York continued to rally as Mulford and Wayson both tallied goals in a span of 1:10 to pull within 11-10 at 2:52 but Aburn notched the final goal at 2:12.

Simpson denied Wayson's free position shot at 1:16 while first-year midfielder Claire Tiffany (California, Md./Leonardtown) forced a Spartan turnover with 23 seconds left to cut York's rally short.
