LVC Scores 10 Unanswered, Rolls Past King's

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Ten unanswered goals wrapped around halftime blew open a tight game as Lebanon Valley rolled, 18-7, at King's on Wednesday. Allison McGinniss had a career-high five goals, one of five Dutchmen with multiple goals.

LVC (6-5, 5-3 MAC) dominated the game offensively, outshooting the Monarchs (3-7, 2-6 MAC) 31-19 as it flipped an 8-5 game just before the break into an 18-5 blowout midway through the second half.

The win gave the second-year program an important conference win; with four games left, the Dutchmen sit in fifth place, with the top six teams making the playoffs. LVC has a tough end to its schedule with nationally-ranked Elizabethtown and Messiah still left along with Widener and Manhattanville, who are both in the playoff hunt.

McGinniss' five goals led LVC, along with four from Lindsey Buckman and a hat trick by Suzanne Sullivan. Taylor Kruter and Kristin Clift both scored two, and Kruter also snagged seven draw controls. Hana Krechel scored one but dished out six assists.

The Dutchmen led the entire game, starting off with four straight goals after a scoreless opening 10 minutes. King's answered with three to tighten it to a one-goal lead, but LVC began to pull away, going on a 4-2 run to take an 8-5 lead late in the half.

From there, it was all Valley as Sullivan and Clift converted just before the break and LVC reeled off eight unanswered over the opening 13 minutes of the second half, turning a comfortable 10-5 halftiem lead into an 18-5 advantage. King's finally scored with 12:04 left in the game on Krystina Villarreal's third, and they added a late consolation goal as well.

Erica Ameigh made eight saves to pick up the win in 38:55, with Corinne Palombo and Rachel Denny splitting relief. Megan Withrow stopped seven in the loss. The LVC defense was led by Sara Vanderbogart and Mel Modrick, who each caused four turnovers and combined for 11 ground balls.

LVC returns home to host Widener on Saturday. The team will run a free youth clinic after the game, and contests will be held at halftime for all kids in attendance.
