Adams Paces Lebanon Valley Over King's

ANNVILLE, Pa. - CJ Adams' first career hat trick and multi-goal games from Alex Beard and Ryan Leonard helped push Lebanon Valley past King's, 9-6, in MAC play on Wednesday. LVC scored six of its goals in the second half.

The Dutchmen (5-7, 3-4 MAC) dominated the game offensively, outshooting King's (5-7, 3-4) by a 40-18 margin, including 13-3 in the decisive third-quarter that saw LVC take a three-goal lead. Their 40 shots were the most since ripping off 56 in the season opener against Mount Saint Mary.

Adams scored two of his three in the third, and Leonard also had two second-half goals to go with a pair of assists. The Monarchs' Lenny Fox scored four to lead his side.

Midfield transition was a major advantage for LVC as it held King's to 18 for 28 on clears, taking advantage of turnovers all game long. King's led 10-9 on face-offs.

LVC did all the scoring in the first, opening and closing the quarter with goals by Matt Roupe and Beard, but King's quickly tied it to start the second after tallies from Fox and Ryan Bullock. Adams hit from long range to take a 3-2 into the break.

The free-flowing third quarter saw six combined goals in a 6:50 span. Beard and Fox traded strikes before Leonard hooked up with Ryan Lanigan on the run to go up 5-3, and Adams scored his second moments later to make it a 6-3 cushion. Fox took advantage of a man-up opportunity with 3:37 left in the quarter, but Adams got it back less than a minute later off Leonard's feed to end the quarter up 7-4.

Malik Pedroso gave the Dutchmen some breathing room to start the fourth before Fox cut it to 8-5, and a Lanigan gave King's a big opportunity to get back into it before Leonard scored man-down to end the threat following an unforced turnover at the other end. Mike O'Brien scored late for King's to end it at 9-6.

Bryan Lockward had another solid outing in net for LVC, making eight saves. Kevin Conzola stopped 11 in the loss.

LVC will visit Widener on Saturday for a noon start.
