Georgian Court Overpowers Dominican for CACC Win

Lakewood, NJ (4/13/11) -- Georgian Court improved to 9-4 overall and 9-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after defeating visiting Dominican, 18-3, in a conference game played this afternoon. With the loss Dominican falls to 6-4 overall and 5-3 in the CACC.

The Lions scored the first 11 goals of the game to take an 11-0 lead with 5:42 remaining in the first half. Attacker Carla Gimm (St. Peter's, PA) netted the Lady Chargers first goal of the contest off an assist from sophomore Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) to put DC on the board with 2:26 to play before halftime. GCU added a goal with 0:09 on the clock to make the score 12-1 at the intermission.

Georgian Court continued on their run in the second half with four consecutive goals to go up 16-1. Senior midfielder Silje Karlsen (Vernon, NJ) netted back-to-back goals for Dominican with unassisted goals with 9:50 and 1:23 left to play to make the score 16-3. GCU closed out the game with a 2-0 run for the final 18-3 victory.

Freshman goalie Amanda Caprio (Point Pleasant, NJ) made 11 saves in the loss.
