Centenary Sprints Past Cedar Crest

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (April 13, 2011) Junior Danielle Bay (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) scored a season-high seven goals to lead Centenary to a 20-3 win over CSAC foe Cedar Crest, Wednesday in Hackettstown, N.J. The win ended a two-game losing streak for the Cyclones (4-3, 3-1 CSAC) while extending the Falcons' (2-10, 1-4 CSAC) losing streak to three.

Bay's scoring output was her best since she posted seven goals against Immaculata on April 10, 2010. On Wednesday, she also finished with five groundballs, two caused turnovers and one draw control. Seven other Cyclones tallied in the victory over Cedar Crest, including Meredith Bruce (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), who poured in six points on five goals and one assist.

Sophomore Alysia Pinkerton (Frenchtown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) and junior Hannah Ally (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) each contributed three goals and one assist and sophomores Allie Swartz (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) and Nicole Judd (St. Louis, Mo./Lafayette Senior) recorded one goal and two assists apiece. Fellow classmates Kellie Rose (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) and Danielle Trucksess (Collingswood, N.J./Collingswood) each tallied an assist. Rose also finished with five groundballs and six draw controls, both career-bests.

CC outshot its opponent, 49-6, including a 31-2 edge in the first half in which the Cyclones grabbed a 13-1 lead. Centenary finished with 40 groundballs to the Falcons' 27 and benefited from 27 Cedar Crest turnovers. The home team also won the draw control battle, 19-6.

The Cyclones return to action on Saturday, April 16, with a home game against non-conference opponent Rutgers-Camden at 1:00 p.m. at Cyclone Field.
