#3 Lock Haven Loses Thriller to #7 West Chester
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – No. 3 Lock Haven (12-1, 8-1 PSAC) rallied and scored the last three goals of the game, but the comeback was cut short and No. 7 West Chester (11-2, 9-0 PSAC) escaped Charlotte E. Smith Field with a thrilling 13-12 win.
The two PSAC powers battled to a 7-7 halftime draw and the fireworks ensued in the second half of the grudge match between the two bitter rivals.
Freshman Jessica Pandolf (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) led all scorers with a game-high four goals. Gwen Buss (Harrisburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) and Elyse Fisher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) both netted hat tricks for LHU, while Jamie Uzialko (Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) scored twice.
Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) tallied four assists for The Haven. LHU goalie Heather Sacko (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) made seven saves for Lock Haven, which kept the Lady Eagles in the game.
West Chester led 13-9 with 12:16 to go, but LHU rallied and with 1:34 Pandolf scored to make 13-12, but The Haven just couldn't muster up the equalizer in final minute of play.
Katie Zichelli (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) had a solid outing as she caused five turnovers to go along with four ground balls.
The Lady Eagles are right back at it tomorrow (Saturday, April 16) at 3:00 p.m. when they host Kutztown University in PSAC action.
