Tigers Route Hendrix to Finish Perfect in SCAC

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Colorado College completed a perfect Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season with a 24-3 victory over Hendrix College on Friday night at CC's Washburn Field.

Freshman attackman Jake Smith struck for a season-high six goals and set up two other scores to help the Tigers improve to 10-0 overall and 7-0 in the SCAC.

CC eclipsed the 20-goal mark for the fifth time in seven conference games and outscored its opponents 134-17 during those contests. The Tigers have not allowed more than five scores by an SCAC opponent this season.

Carson Christman found the net four times, the first of which proved to be his second game winner of the season. He assisted on four tallies, including three by Smith, en route to an eight-point night.

Moses Taylor scored four times, while Bart Cerf and Charles Curtis notched a pair goals.

Colorado College finished with a 57-11 advantage in total shots. CC also won 25 of 28 faceoffs and recorded a 44-17 edge in ground balls.

Keith Clemens made 16 saves, including nine in the first period, to keep the Warriors within striking distance.

Zach Steedman had to make just one save for the Tigers. Buck McKenna won 19 of 22 draws and grabbed a game-high 11 ground balls. Chris Kolodey caused four turnovers and picked up four ground balls.

Hendrix trailed only 6-0 after Christman scored 4:27 into the second period, but the Tigers exploded for seven goals in a span of 5:21 to blow the game open.

CC led 16-0 after 30 minutes and 24-0 when Smith tallied his final goal with 4:43 remaining in the third period.

Tim Wojcik broke up the shutout with the first of his two goals late in the period. Wojcik, who had a team-high five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers, added a man-up goal in the fourth period to close out the scoring.

Colorado College plays the winner of Sunday's Hendrix-Southwestern game next Friday afternoon in the first semifinal contest of the inaugural SCAC tournament at Washburn Field.
