No. 9 Dowling Steams Past Lake Erie

Brookhaven, NY - #9 Dowling defeated Lake Erie College 24-1 at Golden Lions Field. With the win, Dowling improves to 9-2, 4-0 in the ECC and extends their winning streak to six straight. Lake Erie drops to 2-8, 0-3 ECC.

The Golden Lions defense held the Storm scoreless, managing only three shots in the first half. Rachael Goldstein made three saves in the net. Samantha Titus had three draw controls and three caused turnovers and Kristen Matos, Meaghan Smith, Alana Gund and Brianna Falese all played well for Dowling in the back.

The offense was lead by Cassandra Cronin. Cassie finished with three goals and three assists. Up front, Brooke Witkowski had two goals and five assists. Freshmen Jerilynn Goodfellow had a career high four goals, all in the second half. Other players with multiple goals included Kelly Cefalu, who finished with three, Nicolle Moran and Shannon Asquino who each put in two.

Lake Erie got on the board midway through the second half on a tally by Brittany Rabuano.

Dowling returns to action Wednesday on the road against St. Thomas Aquinas. First draw is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
