McIntosh Scores 6 in Nazareth Win over Hartwick

ONEONTA, NY Visiting Nazareth pulled away in the second half for a 19-9 victory over Hartwick on Saturday at Wright Stadium. The Hawks trailed by a 9-5 margin with roughly 22 minutes to play, but the Golden Flyers scored four times in the next four and a half minutes and later tallied five goals in a five-minute span to secure the victory.

Hartwick falls below .500 for the first time this season with a 5-6 mark. The Hawks are also 1-5 in the Empire 8. Nazareth, which remains unbeaten against the Hawks in 11 meetings, improves to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

Naz led 6-0 after the opening 16 and a half minutes with Megan Cregan and Kristine Olijnyk accounting for five of the six tallies. Hartwick freshman Brittany McCabe (Manorville, NY/Eastport South Manor) put the Hawks on the board with 6:54 remaining in the half before Amy McIntosh came right back for the Flyers 17 seconds later.

Sophomore Erica Scicchitano (Centerport, NY/Harborfields), who led 'Wick with four points on the day, set up McCabe for the Blue and White's second goal of the game. Naz added their 8th goal, but Scicchitano tallied twice in 12 seconds and the Hawks trailed by an 8-4 margin at the half.

McIntosh and Hartwick's Aly Davis (Skaneateles, NY/Skaneateles) traded goals to start the second half. Naz would take control with 21:29 to play as it started a 4-0 run. McCabe cut the deficit to 13-6 with 15:48 left, but one minute later the Golden Flyers rallied for five straight to open up an 18-6 margin.

The Hawks scored three of the game's final four goals as Brittany LaVaute (Skaneateles, NY/Skaneateles), Ali Sisco (Kendall Park, NJ/S. Brunswick), and Erin Doyle (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) each found the back of the net.

McCabe led Hartwick with three goals. Scicchitano added two goals and two assists. Sisco finished the day with a goal and two helpers. She also had a team-best three draws and tied for team-highs with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Freshman defender Morgan Galipeau (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) contributed a pair of caused turnovers and four ground balls. Goalie Jen Kaye (Altamont, NY/Guilderland) made 10 saves. She also added two caused turnovers and four ground balls. Brianca Gianfrate (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) and LaVaute also forced a pair of Naz turnovers in the game.

McIntosh led Nazareth with six goals and an assist. Kristine Olijnyk added four tallies and Michelle Cook scored twice and dished out four assists. Tara Prosak and Shelby Robinson split time in goal and combined for six saves.

Hartwick is back in action tomorrow against St. John Fisher College. The Hawks and Cardinals square off at 1:00 p.m. at Wright Stadium.

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Freshman Amy McIntosh (Horseheads) scored a career-best six goals and added an assist for visiting Nazareth Saturday as the Golden Flyers dominated Hartwick in an Empire 8 women's lacrosse game, 19-9.

The Golden Flyers won for the third straight time to improve to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in the Empire 8 Conference. Hartwick is 5-6 overall and 1-5 in conference games. Nazareth visits ninth-ranked Stevens Sunday for a 1:00 p.m. game.

Nazareth scored six times before the game was 15 minutes old to take a commanding lead. The Golden Flyers kept the Hawks off the scoreboard until less than seven minutes remained in the first half. Sophomore Megan Cregan (Brighton) scored all three of her goals during that early run. Senior Kristine Olijnyk (Webster Thomas) added a pair of goals and McIntosh also scored.
