Larivee, Wiggins, Taylor Lead Bentley by Assumption
WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman Chelsea Larivee (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) and juniors Megan Wiggins (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) and Torre Taylor (Locust Valley, N.Y./Friends Academy) combined for 10 goals to lead Bentley to a 17-4 win over Assumption in Northeast-10 play Saturday afternoon.
Larivee led the way with four goals and Wiggins and Taylor each had three for the Falcons, who improve to 7-6 overall and 5-3 in the NE-10. Assumption drops to 5-7 and 3-6 in the league.
Both teams were slow to get their offenses going, as the first goal, scored by Bentley's Dovlyn Curtis (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham), didn't come until more than nine minutes in. Wiggins scored 19 seconds later, and Assumption got onto the board for the first time at the 19:52 mark courtesy of Steph O'Rourke.
After O'Rourke's goal made it 2-1, the Falcons scored twice in a 25 second span on goals by freshman Carolyn Kynoch (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) and sophomore Alex Carney (Providence, R.I./The Wheeler School). Three freshmen then scored consecutively for Bentley, Alicia Papineau (Hollis, N.H./Hollis-Brookline), Lauren Willey (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) and Larivee to give Bentley a 7-1 lead.
Bentley scored the first six goals of the second half, with Taylor scoring three of them, to make the score 13-2 before O'Rourke scored two in a row for Assumption, its only two goals of the half.
Freshman Ally Dorman (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) made five saves to earn the win, her second in a row.
Bentley returns to the field when they play at Southern New Hampshire on Patriots Day at 5:00 p.m.
