No. 2 Le Moyne Powers Past Saint Anselm

Manchester, N.H. Junior midfielder Brittany Brigandi (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/UMass) scored four goals and dished out a pair of assists to lead the second-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 16-3 win over Saint Anselm on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Grappone Stadium.

Saint Anselm opened the game's scoring 2:11 into the contest on an unassisted tally by Kaleigh Hunt. The Dolphins evened the score at one apiece one minute and 30 seconds later to ignite a 10-0 run over a stretch of 22:01. Sophomore Brenna Bauer (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) scored the first three goals of the span, the first two coming off passes from Brigandi, while the third came off a free-position shot at the 20:54 mark.

Brigandi put the Dolphins in front 4-1 with her 42nd goal of the year with 19:27 remaining in the half. Just 24 seconds later, senior midfielder Rebekah Elmer (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) converted a free-position shot for her 24th goal of the season.

After five and one-half minutes of scoreless action, senior defender Katlin Walker (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) scored her seventh goal of the season after clearing the ball following a Saint Anselm turnover. Just under three minutes later, Brigandi made the score 7-1 with an unassisted goal.

Freshman Victoria Nies (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) became the eighth Dolphin to score 10 goals on the year when she found the back of the net off a free-position shot with 8:38 to go. Senior Nerissa Barzee (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) scored just over two minutes later by converting a free-position shot of her own. Senior Michelle Phillips (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) capped the scoring in the half with 4:18 left after taking a pass from Bauer.

The Dolphins scored four goals over the opening 7:06 of the second half to increase their lead to 14-1. Elmer netted the first 52 seconds into the stanza after a Saint Anselm turnover. Phillips then added a pair of goals in a span of 1:49, the first of which came off a free-position shot. Brigandi capped the burst with an unassisted tally at the 22:54 mark.

The Hawks snapped Le Moyne's 14-0 run with 21:34 left as Meghan Smith tallied her 30th goal of the year. After Brigandi scored her 45th goal of the season with 18:37 remaining, Smith added her second goal of the half with 16:06 left to make the score 15-3. Freshman Kathleen Conese (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) closed out the scoring in the contest with an unassisted goal with just under five minutes to go.

Junior goalkeeper Kelly Fucillo (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) turned away seven shots in between the pipes for her 11th victory of the season. Katherine O'Hara made eight saves for the Hawks in the setback.

Le Moyne (11-1, NE-10 7-1), which improved to 6-0 on the road this season, including 4-0 in conference games, returns to action on Tuesday at New Haven at 4:00 p.m.
