Alvernia Drops MAC Match to Manhattanville
Reading, Pa. (Apr. 16, 2011) - Manhattanville College (3-9, 1-7) got past Alvernia University (2-11, 0-8) by a 9-1 final Saturday afternoon under rainy skies in Middle Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse action at Schlager Memorial Field.
The Valiants scored three goals in the first quarter for a 3-0 lead and added on two goals each in the last three quarters. Alvernia's lone goal came three minutes into the third quarter when Rick Reid (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) scored his 10th of the season assisted by Brian Ray (Cranford, N.J./Cranford).
Alvernia junior Kevin Shupp (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) made 14 saves for the Crusaders. His counterpart Dom Poletto stopped 15 for the Valiants.
Alvernia continues the conference schedule next Thursday at FDU.
