Centenary Stops Rutgers-Camden on Senior Day

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (April 16, 2011) Juniors Hannah Ally (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) and Danielle Bay (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) each scored four goals to lead Centenary (6-3) to an 18-8 win over non-conference foe Rutgers-Camden (3-6).

Prior to the game, the team honored its two seniors, Eva Imperatore (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) and Lauren LaMotta (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial).

The Cyclones outshot RUC, 27-16, and grabbed 35 groundballs to the Scarlet Raptors' 20. CC also benefited from 29 Rutgers turnovers, 14 of which were forced by the home team.

Bay also finished with two assists and Ally tallied one. Sophomore Allie Swartz (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) contributed three goals and a game-high three assists and junior Meredith Bruce (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) recorded three goals and one assist. Sophomore Alysia Pinkerton (Frenchtown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) netted two goals and classmates Nicole Judd (St. Louis, Mo./Lafayette Senior) and Kellie Rose (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) each scored one apiece.

Defensively, Swartz tallied a game-high six groundballs and LaMotta and Pinkerton each forced three caused turnovers. Goalie Ako Nakabun (Tokyo, Japan/Koyamadai Metropolitan) stopped four shots in the victory.

CC returns to action on Tuesday, April 19, with a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game at Immaculata at 4:00 p.m.
