Pacers Rout Rosemont, Move Closer to Clinching Top Seed

Rosemont, PA Eleven different Pacers recorded points as Marywood cruised to a 24-1 victory over Rosemont in CSAC action on Monday afternoon.

The Pacers, who have won 10 of their last 11 games, improve to 11-3 overall (6-1 CSAC) and can clinch the top seed in the conference playoffs with a win in their regular season finale at Immaculata next Tuesday night.

Marywood raced out to a 15-0 lead over the first 14:04 of Monday's contest at Rosemont, with Kimberly Commisso, Diana D'Achille, and Taylor McKeown all recording hat-tricks during the run. The Pacers also got a pair of goals from Kathy DiGiacomo and Sarah Caughy, and single tallies by Allie Sodl and Meg Barbarino during the spurt.

Caitlin Edgar converted a free-position shot at the 12:52 mark of the opening half to account for the Ravens' lone goal of the afternoon, but Marywood closed the half with a 5-0 run to hold a 20-1 lead at halftime.

Sodl completed a hat-trick of her own during the run and Barbarino netted her second goal of the contest during that span. D'Achille tacked on her fourth marker of the game off a Meagan Walters assist and Liz Fowler got into the act with a goal of her own.

Lauren Indelicato scored her first collegiate goal to open the scoring in the second half and Caughy sandwiched a pair of tallies around one by Ashley Cavellier to round out the scoring as the Pacers spend much of the second half just possessing the ball.

D'Achille led all scorers with six points on four goals and two assists while Caughy finished with five points on four goals and one helper. Barbarino finished the afternoon with four points on two goals and two assists while Commisso (3 goals), Sodl (3 goals), McKeown (3 goals).

DiGiacomo (2 goals, 1 assist) all had three-point efforts for Marywood, who held a commanding, 37-4 advantage in shots for the game and won 22 groundballs to 10 for Rosemont. The Pacers were dominant on draw controls as well, winning 24 of the game's 27 draws, led by Commisso's 14.

Goalie Leigha Dolcemascolo needed to make just one save to earn her third win of the season for the Pacers.

Marywood closes out their regular season next Tuesday when they travel to Immaculata University for a CSAC contest scheduled for 7:00 p.m. With a win, the Pacers would clinch the top seed and home field advantage throughout the CSAC playoffs.

While Marywood, Gwynedd-Mercy, and Centenary each have only one conference loss to date, the Griffins and Cyclones have yet to meet. Since the Pacers defeated both teams, Marywood would hold the tie-breaker over the team that wins the game between the two which is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at Centenary.
