No. 2 Le Moyne Storms Past No. 11 New Haven

West Haven, Conn. Junior midfielder Brittany Brigandi (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/UMass) scored five times to lead second-ranked Le Moyne to a 15-3 win over 11th-ranked New Haven in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Kayo Field.

The Dolphins scored the game's first eight goals over the opening 21 minutes and 17 seconds. Sophomore Brenna Bauer (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) scored the game's first goal off a pass from Brigandi 3:32 into the contest.

Just over two minutes later, Brigandi found the back of the net for her 46th goal of the season. Senior attacker Michelle Phillips (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) scored 41 seconds later at the 23:36 mark for a 3-0 lead. Senior midfielder Rebekah Elmer (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) scored her 26th goal of the campaign off a free-position shot with 19:37 remaining.

Elmer fed Brigandi 1:25 later to make the score 5-0. Senior Leah Lazarz (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) got into the scoring column with just over 16 minutes left with her sixth tally of the year. Brigandi completed her hat trick 41 seconds later. After six and one-half minutes of scoreless action, Brigandi registered an unassisted goal to cap the Le Moyne scoring burst.

Sarah Magnone got the Chargers on the scoreboard with 6:55 remaining in the half, but sophomore Kelly Condon (Victor, N.Y./Canandaigua) scored with 4:55 left to close out the scoring in the stanza.

Magnone opened the scoring in the second half with a goal off a pass from Alexis Gabbe at the 23:44 mark.

The Dolphins answered back with a pair of goals in a span of 59 seconds to take an 11-2 lead. Brigandi scored the first off a free-position shot at the 20:27 mark to become the third player in the program's history to score 50 goals in a season. Phillips recorded an unassisted tally for the nine-goal lead.

Gabbe posted New Haven's final goal of the game off a free-position shot with 18:09 remaining.

The Dolphins closed out the game's scoring with four goals over the final 15:50. Senior Nerissa Barzee (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) netted her 13th goal of the year off a feed from Bauer for the first goal of the stretch.

Just over two minutes later, Elmer converted a feed from classmate Mia Valletta (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) to give the Dolphins a double-digit lead. Condon scored for the second time in the game with 6:24 left, while Valletta ended the scoring off a free-position shot with 4:07 to go.

Junior goalkeeper Kelly Fucillo (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) made three saves, including two in the second half, for her 12th win of the year, becoming just the third player in the program's history to reach that total. Maureen Spellman turned away 13 shots in the setback for the Chargers.

Le Moyne (12-1, NE-10 8-1), which has won eight straight games for the first time since the 2008 season, returns home to face Division-I Detroit on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
