Mustangs Fall to UMW in 2OT in CAC Semifinals

In the first and second overtimes, the Mustangs scored twice to take a 15-13 lead with less than two minutes left. But Kennedy scored unassisted with 1:04 to play, and then assisted Keller Torrey with only 20 seconds left to again tie the score.

The third extra period, which is sudden death, saw UMW score on a Callison goal on a pass from Kimmelman with 1:42 to play for the game winner. The 16-15 lead was UMW's first lead since leading 5-4 with 3:16 left in the first half.

Kennedy led the Eagles with six goals and an assist, while Kimmelman had three goals and three assists. Erin Murphy and Gersbeck each scored twice, and Torrey had four assists.

The Eagles led in shots, 34-32, and junior goalie Dannielle Guigli had 12 saves in goal for UMW.

Mary Washington will visit Salisbury University on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in the CAC Championship.
