Schrock Nets Eight as W&J Routs Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG, Pa. - Senior Courtney Schrock (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) scored a school-record eight goals and the Washington & Jefferson women's lacrosse team set a school mark in goals scored as it won 22-3 at Waynesburg Thursday night.

The Presidents (11-3) broke their previous school record of 20 goals set nearly two years to the day in a 20-2 victory at Lancaster Bible on Apr. 18, 2009. W&J also tied its school record for assists as a team with 11, which it set during a victory (18-0) over Waynesburg last year.

Schrock added three assists to finish with 11 points, another single-game school record. She snapped a previous high of nine points set against Lancaster Bible. Sophomore midfielder Kelsey Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) set another new W&J single-game record by recording five assists in the win. She broke Schrock's previous record of four set in the Red & Black's victory over Lancaster Bible.

Sophomore Brittany Fradkin (Owings Mills, Md./St. Paul's SFG) had a hat trick in the first half as the Presidents jumped out to a 12-2 lead by the break. Two other players also recorded hat tricks in the game as freshman Amy Anderson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and junior Brittney Oake (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) scored three and four goals, respectively. Kraus also fired in two goals, while senior Nikki Lu (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) scored a goal and added two assists.

W&J dominated the game, out-shooting Waynesburg (1-8) by a 42-9 margin. The Presidents went on two separate stretches in which they scored eight and 12 unanswered goals.

Sophomore Julia McLellan (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) made three saves and allowed two goals to earn the win. Waynesburg junior Erin Burry made 15 saves in the losing effort.

W&J returns to Alexandre Stadium for its final home game of the season on Tuesday night against Oberlin (7:00 pm). The Presidents will honor their four seniors as part of their Senior Day ceremonies prior to the game.
