Mercy Falls in ECC Match at Molloy

Mercy College lost an East Coast Conference game tonight at Molloy College, 18-10.

Molloy (8-5; 2-2 ECC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 93 seconds, only to have the Mavericks (7-5; 3-2 ECC) knot the game on goals from sophomore Brittany Ott (Copiague, N.Y./Copiague) and freshman Tracey Wandle (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point). Molloy then ran off three straight to take a 5-2 lead less than seven minutes into the game.

Ott scored her second goal of the game to cut the run before the host Lions rattled off nine unanswered goals to seize control.

For the game, Wandle paced Mercy with four goals, while sophomore Kelsey Sullivan (Mastic, N.Y./Eastport South Manor) had three goals and a pair of assists. Sophomore Marissa Hurley (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd) rounded out the scoring with a goal and three assists.

Mercy returns to action on Tuesday, April 26, hosting C. W. Post in the final home game of the season.
