Visiting Bowdoin Edges Williams in NESCAC Battle

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Bowdoin's Keegan Mehlhorn scored three goals and assisted on the game-winner to Nathan Fritts with 7:59 remaining as Polar Bear won its third straight outing in an 8-7 victory at Williams Saturday. The Polar Bears rebound to 6-6 this season (3-5 NESCAC) and secure a berth in the NESCAC tournament with the win. Williams falls to 2-10 (1-7) with the setback.

Billy Bergner and Fritts also had two scores in support of Mehlhorn as Bowdoin got 11 saves in net from Jake McCampbell. Sam Hargrove led the Ephs with three scores.

The Polar Bears used four straight scores in the opening period to jump ahead, 4-1. Williams rebounded in the second quarter to draw within a single goal, 5-4, at intermission. Mehlhorn pushed Bowdoin's lead to 6-4 early in the third quarter, but the Ephs rolled off three of the next four goals to tie the game at seven apiece on a Matt Cranshaw score with

9:06 remaining. Mehlhorn fed Fritts with the go-ahead tally at 7:59 and McCampbell made five fourth-quarter saves to secure the victory. Henry Mills stopped nine shots in the cage in the defeat for Williams.

Bowdoin will close out their regular season on Senior Night Friday against Tufts University. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. under the lights at Ryan Field.
