No. 7 Bowdoin Cruises to Pair of Wins in Florida
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team improved to 4-0 with a pair of easy wins over the weekend in Florida. The Polar Bears beat Springfield College 17-2 on Friday before posting a 17-3 win over Buffalo State on Sunday. Bowdoin is ranked seventh in the latest IWLCA National Poll.
Bowdoin used an 11-1 first-half effort to ease past Springfield on Friday evening. Kate Donoghue paced the Polar Bears with a four-goal evening, while Bridget Keating and Lyndsey Colburn posted three goals apiece. Brooke Nentwig (two goals), Grace Moore, Emily Straus, Christina Denitzio, Casey Logan and Jill Steigerwald also scored in the victory. Stephanie Collins-Finn stopped five shots in net before giving way to Kori Lamontagne (one save) and Kat Popoff (one save).
On Sunday evening, Bowdoin blasted Buffalo State with an evenly-balanced attack and stifling defense. Donoghue led all scorers again with a five-goal night, while Taylor White, Jena Davis, Bridget Keating, Grace Moore and Lyndsey Colburn each scored twice. Bobbi Dennison and Meaghan Tanguay added one goal each in the win. Stephanie Collins-Finn stopped eight Buffalo State shots, while Kori Lamontagne made one save in relief.
Bowdoin will close out their Florida slate with a game against Eastern Connecticut on Tuesday afternoon.
