No. 21 Simon Fraser Storms by Washington

SEATTLE, WA (April 23, 2011) No. 21 Simon Fraser ended their recent two-game losing streak with a convincing 24-8 win over Washington. Clan attackmen Calvin Craig (Coquitlam, BC/Gleneagle Secondary) 10g, 4a and Colton Dow (Coquitlam, BC/Heritage Woods Secondary) 4g, 6a both registered double digits in points with 14 and 10 points respectively, while senior Chris Tessarolo (New Westminster, BC/New Westminster Secondary) chipped in with a season-high 5 points on 4 goals and 1 assist.

Simon Fraser opened the scoring with freshman attack Cory Koesdibyo (Nanaimo, BC/Dover Bay Secondary) converting a man-up opportunity to put the Clan up 1-0. SFU would then make it 2-0 as an aggressive Clan ride left Dow alone on the doorstep for his first of the contest. A screen shot around a Fraser defender would get Washington on the board at 2-1 before another caused turnover in transition made it 3-1 in SFU's advantage. Back-to-back goals by the Huskies would draw the two teams back to even at 3-3 until Craig instigated a 4-0 run to close out the quarter and put the Clan up 7-3 after 15:00 minutes.

UW would crawl to within four to start the second quarter; it would then be all SFU from there as the Clan went on a 12-0 run over the middle two frames to take a commanding 15-goal lead at 19-4. The Huskies would post their first goal of the second half to end the third quarter and make it 19-5 heading down the stretch. Fraser would cruise to victory the rest of the way, outscoring Washington 5-3 in the fourth quarter for a 24-8 final.

With the win, SFU improves to 2-0 atop the PNCLL North and will return home to close out the regular season tomorrow when they play their final divisional game of the year versus Montana. The loss concludes the regular season for UW with the Huskies now awaiting tomorrow's results to determine next weekend's PNCLL Quarterfinal match-ups.
