Seniors Lead Delaware to Victory over Old Dominion

Old Dominion answered back with a three-goal run, it's longest of the day, to keep things interesting down the stretch. Reed got the first, followed by back-to-back goals from Rogers.

Sitting on an 8-6 advantage, Delaware got an insurance goal and a fitting end to two careers. Libertini buried the last goal of the game as the final horn sounded, connecting on a pass from Burman, who is also a senior.

Despite managing just six goals, Old Dominion out-shot Delaware 29-24, including 16-10 in the second half, but was stymied by Worthington. Jeffers led Delaware in shots, taking eight while putting seven of those attempts on cage.

Both teams grabbed 12 groundballs, as three different Hens grabbed two each. In addition to Worthington's pair, defenders Gracie Wills and Jen Bradway each snared two.

The draw circle was a back-and-forth affair and evenly matched through out the game. Delaware finished with eight draws, thanks in part to Drost's three and Jeffers two.

“This senior group is definitely leaving a legacy for the future,” said Linville of the team's eight senior members. “This senior group has contributed both in experience and work ethic. I think the legacy they leave is one of team play and a lot of heart and soul for Delaware. It's going to be a challenge to replace them, but it will help bring a new look to the program and that's something we'll be excited about next season.”
