No. 10 Westminster Defeats No. 11 Utah Valley

OREM, Utah The 10th-ranked Westminster men's lacrosse team defeated No. 11 Utah Valley 16-6 on Saturday afternoon to clinch the RMLC West division title. Westminster has now won or tied for the division title in five consecutive seasons.

The win climbs the Griffins record to 10-7 overall this season and completes a perfect 3-0 mark in league play. They earn an opening round bye in the RMLC Tournament next month. Utah Valley falls to 7-2 and 2-1.

Gian Sexsmith led the Griffin offense by scoring five goals while adding one assist. Four other Griffins scored two goals apiece with Jacob Wayman adding three assists to his for five points. Zach Stout and Jamison Amonino collected five ground balls while Marshall Serzen won 14 faceoffs in 22 opportunities. Dallas McLellan posted 10 saves in the Westminster cage.

Westminster will next play on Friday, May 6 in the semifinals of the RMLC Tournament in Grand Junction, Colo. They will face the winner of Fort Lewis and the No. 2 seed from the East division.
