Grizzlies Fall at WILA Champion Regis

DENVER- The Regis Rangers scored three early goals and used a balanced and patient attack the rest of the way as they capped a perfect 6-0 WILA season with a 20-0 shutout win over the Adams State Grizzlies on Saturday at the Regis Soccer & Lacrosse Pitch.

The Rangers, now 11-2 overall, had 13 different goal scorers and received a hat-trick from Kelsi Goings and seven points Danica Cutshall as they opened a 3-0 lead in the game's first two minutes before extending it to 12-0 by halftime.

Meanwhile, senior Chani Taggart made three saves in her third appearance of the season while recording the first ever shutout in newly-formed WILA.

The established Rangers finished the day with a 32-7 edge in total shots, largely due to the ability to win 18 of 23 draw controls. They also scored four goals while the Grizzlies had players off the field with yellow cards.

The first-year Grizzlies (0-10, 0-5 WILA) took seven total shots, including three on goal. Amanda Hisel (Conifer, Colo.) had three off those shots while LiErin Wilson (Silverton, Colo.), took two, both of which were stopped by Taggart.

Hisel also had two draw of the Grizzlies' five draw control wins while Kelly Hillick (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the Grizzlies with three groundballs and three caused turnovers, the most of any player on the field.

The Grizzlies will now have two weeks to prepare for their season-finale, when they will host Mesa State (3-8, 1-4 WILA) on Saturday, May 7 at 1:00 p.m. on the ASC Lacrosse & Soccer Field.
