Lycoming Rallies But Falls to FDU-Florham

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. Lycoming rallied with a goal late in the fourth quarter, but FDU-Florham was able to use four straight goals from the second to fourth quarters to post a 6-5 Middle Atlantic Conference win, spoiling Senior Day at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Saturday, April 30.

Freshman Brett Farrell (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) connected after a give from junior Ben Walker (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) for a man-up goal with 4:39 left to make it a one-goal game, but the Devils (10-6 overall, 8-3 MAC) warded off the Warriors (9-7 overall, 8-3 MAC) late to seal the win.

Sophomore Stephen Romano (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) led the Warriors with two goals and an assist and Walker posted a goal and two assists.

Paul Colfesh and Nick Ardolino each posted two goals and Drew Canfield added two assists to lead the Devils.

The Devils struck first in the first quarter before the Warriors responded with three straight goals, with two coming from Romano and one from Walker, giving Lycoming a 3-1 lead with 12:56 left in the first half. The Devils tied the game with 5:52 left in the half though and a goal from Colfesh with 12:37 left in the third gave the Devils the lead.

Cody McHugh gave the Devils a two-goal lead 35 seconds into the second half, before junior Ethan Payne (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) dented the twine with 10:03 left to make it 5-4. Nick Ardolino iced the game with a goal just 27 seconds later for the Devils.

Senior Alan Antinarelli (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas) led the Warriors with five groundballs and posted 10 saves in net to lead the team. Romano also added three groundballs.

Dino Vitale posted eight stops for the Devils and Billy Deignan led the team w ith 11 groundballs. McHugh and Joseph Fluss each added four groundballs.

The Warriors will move on to the first round of the MAC Championship playoffs on Monday, May 2. The opponent and location will be decided at the conclusion of today's conference play.
