#1 Dophins Top SNHU, Finish Unbeaten in NE-10

Manchester, N.H. Four players scored two goals apiece to lead the top-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 15-4 win over Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Larkin Field.

The Dolphins got on the scoreboard first as redshirt junior midfielder Tyler Sennett (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) drove down the left alley and fired in his 14th goal of the season 37 seconds into the contest. Three and one-half minutes later, senior defensive midfielder Jikado Hanna (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) went coast-to-coast after a Southern New Hampshire turnover to net his eighth goal of the year.

After almost eight minutes of scoreless action, the Dolphins scored twice over the final 2:49 of the first quarter. Freshman midfielder Andrew Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) registered an unassisted goal at the 2:49 mark, while senior attackman Vinnie Alexander (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) finished off a feed from classmate Jack Venditti (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) with 40 seconds left.

Senior midfielder Matt Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) opened the scoring in the second quarter after taking a pass from classmate Nick DiSarro (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) at the 9:19 mark. John Cuozzo got the Penmen on the scoreboard 40 seconds later with an unassisted goal. Venditti capped the scoring in the first half with his 25th goal of the season off a pass from senior attackman Jack Harmatuk (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/Syracuse U.) with 2:21 left in the stanza.

Greg Reynolds scored 2:16 into the third quarter to cut Le Moyne's lead to 6-2, but the Dolphins responded with five straight goals to take an 11-2 lead at the end of the third quarter. Sennett regained the five-goal lead for the Dolphins with an unassisted tally. Sennett then fed Harmatuk, who found the back of the net for the 44th consecutive game at the 8:43 mark. Just under two minutes later, redshirt junior midfielder Nick Blumer (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Hobart) finished off a pass from Andrew Chadderdon. Venditti dished out assists on the next two goals, the first by Matt Chadderdon with 4:08 left in the quarter and the second by Blumer with 2:20 to go.

Le Moyne extended its lead to 13-2 by scoring twice over the opening 2:56 of the fourth quarter. Freshman attackman Chris Button (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) converted his third goal of the season off a pass from classmate Kam Bumpus (Marshfield, Mass./Needham/Bridgton Academy) 34 seconds into the stanza. Two minutes and 22 seconds later, Bumpus fed sophomore Nate Frechette (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) for his third goal of the campaign.

Southern New Hampshire scored twice in a span of 64 seconds to close its deficit to 13-4 with 9:05 left. Keith Merluzzo made the score 13-3 with 10:09 left, while Peter Vacca scored his team's final goal with an unassisted tally.

The Dolphins closed out the scoring in the game by scoring twice in a stretch of 1:59. Button registered his second goal of the contest with 8:27 left. Freshman Tim Beach (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) made the score 15-4 with his second goal of his career with 6:28 remaining.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jeff White (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius HS) made five saves in the first half, including three saves in the second quarter, to earn his 12th victory of the season. Eric Gunst took the loss for the Penmen after making 10 saves in 47:20 between the pipes.

Le Moyne (12-1, NE-10 10-0), which completed the regular season undefeated in conference play for the 11th time in 12 years and extended its conference win streak to 44 consecutive games, will host a semifinal match-up in the Northeast-10 Conference tournament on Friday at 4:00 p.m. as the top seed. The Dolphins will host the winner of Tuesday's game between fourth-seeded Bentley and fifth-seeded Merrimack.
