Rutgers Upset Bid Falls Short vs. No. 16 Hoyas

Georgetown found a way, however, as Franklin netted her second score of the game and senior Jacqueline Giles (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) assisted to tie it at eight. The game winner came with 2:08 remaining when the pair connected once again and Giles scored making the final 9-8.

Three Hoyas had two goals each and Franklin led the squad with two goals and an assist. GU outshot Rutgers, 21-15, and forced 17 turnovers.

This is Georgetown's 10th Big East Regular Season Title in the past 11 years and the fourth time in five tries that the squad has been the top seed in the conference tournament.

The tournament begins on Thursday at Multi-Sport Field with No. 2 Syracuse against No. 3 Loyola in the first game at 5:30 p.m., and the No. 1 Hoyas taking on No. 4 Notre Dame in the second contest at approximately 8:15 p.m. Both games will be televised live on CBS College Sports and live stats will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
