Penmen Fall to Stonehill in NE-10 First Round

EASTON, Mass. Kelsey Reilly totaled four goals and an assist as third-seeded Stonehill defeated No. 6 seed Southern New Hampshire 19-4 in the first round of the Northeast-10 championship Wednesday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium. The Skyhawks improve to 15-3 and advance to Saturday's semifinals where they will meet second-seeded Le Moyne College. The Penmen see their season come to a close at 9-8 overall.

Seven players finished with multiple goals for Stonehill, with Sarah Galligan finishing with three goals and an assist and Sam Lynott adding three goals.

Phoebe Clark (Concord, N.H.) and Emily Mongeau (Westborough, Mass.) each totaled a pair of goals for Southern New Hampshire.

Stonehill scored the game's first two goals before Clark got the Penmen on the board 4:20 into the contest. The Skyhawks closed out the first half by tallying eight straight goals, and a Reilly goal 1:17 before intermission made it 10-1 at the break.

The Penmen would score two of the first three goals of the second half to pull within 11-3 on Mongeau's goal with 23:29 to go. The Skyhawks closed out the game by scoring seven of the final eight goals.

Rebecca Moore made 10 stops for Stonehill, while Penmen goalie Hannah Moriarty (Chelmsford, Mass.) turned aside 16 shots as the Skyhawks outshot the Penmen 50-21.

Southern New Hampshire was making its sixth-straight NE-10 Tournament appearance but saw a string of five consecutive conference semifinal appearances snapped.
