Shriver Named Volunteer Assistant at Penn State
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; August 24, 2011 – Former Georgetown attacker David Shriver has been named volunteer assistant coach for Penn State , head coach Jeff Tambroni announced Wednesday.
With the Nittany Lions, Shriver will assist with the offense, working primarily with the extra-man unit and the development of the team's offensive personnel.
"We're thrilled that David has decided to join our staff," said Tambroni, who will enter his second year as head coach in 2012. "He is a first-class young man with a tremendous passion for the sport of lacrosse."
A four-year letter-winner for the Hoyas (2008-11), Shriver appeared in 28 career games and totaled eight points (7g, 1a).
In high school, the Baltimore native helped lead the Boys' Latin School to the 2006 MIAA "A" Conference title and a national championship with a perfect 21-0 record. He earned the program's Gelston Cup, which was presented for unique contributions to the team.
A three-sport athlete, Shriver also garnered the Kelly Award for Devotion to Boys' Latin Athletics and the Team Spirit Award in basketball.
Shriver also played one season at the Salisbury School, compiling 46 points (36g, 10a) in 2007.
