Mark & Mike White Join Sewanee Lacrosse Staff

SEWANEE, Tenn. With school now in session, head coach Marty Watters announced Monday that brothers Mark and Mike White have joined the Sewanee staff as the new assistant coaches. Former St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School standouts, both recently wrapped up their four-year collegiate playing careers at the University of Maryland in 2011.

During their time in College Park, Md., both Mark and Mike helped the Terrapins to one Atlantic Coast Conference title (ACC) and four NCAA Tournament births. During that stretch Maryland made three consecutive NCAA Quarterfinals, before reaching the NCAA Championship match against longtime rival Virginia last May.

Mark, a goalie throughout his career, and Mike, a defenseman, will both work primarily with the Tiger defense this spring. In addition, Mark will also work with the Sewanee goalkeepers and faceoff units.

"Having these two guys on board with us is really going help our players," said Watters. "After playing for one of the most elite collegiate lacrosse programs in the nation, they both know what it takes to compete at the highest level. That same level is something that our program is striving to get to. Their experience is going to help challenge our players to raise the bar every season."
