Longwood Welcomes Nine Newcomers for 2012

FARMVILLE, Va. Longwood interim head coach Wendy Stone has announced the addition of nine newcomers to the roster for the 2011-12 campaign. Joining the Lancers are freshmen Christian Acker|Moorestown, N.J. (Moorestown), Sarah Arndt|Pasadena, Md. (Archbishop Spalding), Morgan Clark|Marcellus, N.Y. (Battlefield), Sara Jacobsen|Gainesville (Battlefield), Kacey Norwood|Chantilly (Chantilly), Taylor O'Hara|Centreville (Centreville), Katie Rowson|Fairfax (Robinson Secondary), Liz Trainer|Ellicot City, Md. (Mt. Hebron), and Jenna Weyant|Fallston, Md. (Fallston).

"I'm very excited to announce the Longwood lacrosse class of 2015," said Stone. "They bring a tremendous amount of athleticism, speed and experience to our team. This is one of the most versatile recruiting classes we have had; they will add much needed depth in the midfield as well as shoring up holes left by the graduation of the class of 2011 on both ends of the field and in the goal. I'm expecting great things from these nine student-athletes on the field, in the classroom and within the Longwood community."

Acker was a four-year member of the Moorestown High School team. She helped them to a State Championship in 2008, 2009 and 2011. The goalkeeper also played South Jersey Select and participated in field hockey as well.

Arndt participated all four years at Archbishop Spalding High School. The attacker earned US Lacrosse Academic All-American and was captain and MVP as a senior. She also participated in basketball.

Clark was a four-year team member at Battlefield High School and named captain as a senior. The midfielder earned All-Area, All-Region and All-District recognition as well as the Coach's Award. She also scored 100 goals during her prep career.

Jacobsen played for Battlefield High School, collecting a team-high draw controls in 2009, team-high goals and assists in 2010, and team-high draw controls, assists and points in 2011. She was a three-time All-Area First-Team member, a two-time All-District and All-Region Second-Team member, and twice selected to the All-District and All-Region First-Team. In 2010, the midfielder was named Washington Post All-Area All Star First-Team. Jacobsen also participated in cheerleading and gymnastics.

Norwood was a three-year participant for Chantilly High School, serving as team captain her junior and senior seasons. In 2009, she helped her team to a Virginia AAA State Championship while in 2010 she was honored on the All-District and All-Region First Team. That same year she was also a member of the All-Tournament team. As a senior, the midfielder earned Second-Team Washington Post All-Metropolitan and was also named Concorde District Player of the Year, earning First Team All-District and All-Region too. She was also a US Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention. Furthermore, she set the school record for goals scored in one season (110), leading the group in draw controls and earning team MVP her final season.

O'Hara played for Centreville High School, earned Concorde District Honorable Mention in 2010-11 and was also named to the Concorde District All-Tournament team the same year. She participated in basketball as well, and earned numerous athletics awards while captaining the team in 2010-11. The defender was also heavily involved in extracurricular activities while at Centreville, including Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), History Honor Society, Yearbook, and Peer Mediation.
