Navy Opens Fall Lacrosse Schedule on Saturday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy has announced its 2011 fall exhibition schedule. Navy will open this Saturday at Georgetown and will host the 12-team Navy Invitational on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy on Oct. 15. Navy will also play home games against George Washington (Oct. 1) and Denver (Oct. 7).

A highlight of Navy's fall ball schedule will be a pair of games against the U.S. Women's National Team in Durham, N.C. on Oct. 9 as part of the US Lacrosse Stars and Stripes weekend. The women's national team will be split into two different squads and Navy will face each, one at 9:00 AM and one at 1:30 PM.

Other aspects of the US Lacrosse Stars and Stripes weekend include the women's national team playing North Carolina and the men's national team playing Duke. The games will be played on Duke's campus on the fields next to Koskinen Stadium.

The Mids will be joined in the annual Navy Invitational on Oct. 15 by Bucknell, Denver, George Washington, Hofstra, James Madison, Louisville, Notre Dame, Stanford, Stony Brook, Towson, and Vanderbilt. Navy, James Madison, and Stanford all appeared in the 2011 NCAA Tournament. The game schedule will be released at a later date.

Navy won its second Patriot League Championship and advanced to its second straight NCAA Tournament in 2011, posting a 15-6 overall record. Through four seasons, Navy owns a 58-19 (.753) mark. The Mids are led by head coach Cindy Timchal, the NCAA's all-time leader in career wins (394).
