Rieg, Bigas Added to the Coaching Staff at Drew

MADISON, N.J. (October 13, 2011) Head coach Tom Leanos announced today that former Centenary College standout Jason Rieg will serve as his assistant coach for the 2012 Drew University Rangers. National Lacrosse League player Jeff Bigas will come aboard as a volunteer assistant coach.

Rieg will fill the void left by former Major League Lacrosse MVP, Matt Poskay, who left to take a head coaching position at Division I Wagner College. Rieg will dive into his first coaching endeavor after a stellar playing career at Centenary College. The 2010 Centenary graduate will be the Rangers offensive coordinator for the upcoming season.

Rieg was a two-year captain playing for former Drew assistant Matt Klank at Centenary College. The Long Valley, N.J. native graduated as one of the top players in Centenary College lacrosse history. In three seasons, Rieg tallied 100 career goals and recorded 85 career assists. His 185 total points and 85 career assists both rank second all-time in Cyclone history.

His senior season, Rieg was a First Team All-Colonial States Athletic Conference selection and one of 70 Division I, II and III men's lacrosse players to earn United States Lacrosse Association Intercollegiate Association (USILA) Scholar All-American honors.

Rieg graduated from Centenary with degree in Business Administration and currently resides in Long Valley. After graduation Rieg has spent time as the head lacrosse instructor at Sports Galaxy in Hackettstown, N.J. and as a coach and instructor in Long Valley Lacrosse Organization.

Bigas, an active National League Lacrosse (NLL) player for the Philadelphia Wings, will begin his first year on Leanos' staff. The 2005 Salisbury graduate won three Division III National Championships in college as a defender. The Philadelphia native was a three-time USILA First Team All-American and the 2005 National Defenseman of the Year for the Sea Gulls.

Bigas was selected in the fourth round of the MLL Draft by the Chicago Machine of the where he played four seasons. He has played the last three years with New York/Orlando Titans and the Philadelphia Wings of the NLL. He currently is the Head Coach Men's Lacrosse Coach at Morristown High School.
