Teams Set for Konica Minolta Big City Classic

DURHAM, N.C. - For the second consecutive year, Duke University will take part in the Konica Minolta Big City Classic, it was announced today. The Blue Devils will take on Syracuse on April 1 at 4:00 p.m., at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Syracuse and Duke will be facing each other for the second consecutive season and for just the eighth time in the two programs' histories. The Orange held off a late rally by the Blue Devils to win 13-11 in the 2011 Konica Minolta Big City Classic. This will be the fifth regular season meeting between the two squads with Syracuse holding a 3-1 lead in those previous four outings.

Under the direction of sixth-year head coach John Danowski, the Blue Devils welcome a talented group of eight freshmen to the team. Duke returns 32 players, including four All-America choices, from last year's squad that finished 14-6 and advanced to the NCAA semifinals.

Tickets for the 2012 editions of the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic and the Konica Minolta Big City Classic will go on sale Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. EST. All seating locations at M&T Bank Stadium and MetLife Stadium will be reserved for these events.

Prices for the 2012 Konica Minolta Big City Classic are $75 for coaches club seats; $45 for west midfield seats (lower level); $45 for the touchdown club (mezzanine) seats; $25 for lower level reserved seats; $20 for groups of 10 or more; and $15 for groups of 100 or more. Parking will be available on game day for $20 (bus parking $30).

BALTIMORE – Once again Syracuse will participate in one of the most highly anticipated events of the college lacrosse season when it faces Duke for the second straight year at the 2012 Konica Minolta Big City Classic.

This year's edition of the event gets underway at 1:00 p.m. with a Big East matchup between Notre Dame and St. John's. Syracuse and Duke will play at 4:00 p.m. followed by Johns Hopkins versus North Carolina in the nightcap (6:30 p.m.)

Syracuse has played in every Big City Classic since its inception in 2009. The Orange faced Princeton at Giants Stadium in the inaugural event, and played the Tigers again the following year at MetLife Stadium. In the nightcap of the 2011 Big City Classic, the Orange defeated Duke, 13-11.

QUEENS, N.Y. (Oct. 17, 2011) – St. John’s lacrosse will return to the 2012 Konica Minolta Big City Classic with a matchup against BIG EAST rival Notre Dame University. The Konica Minolta Big City Classic is a triple-header event that will bring some of the nation’s top lacrosse programs to Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. on April 1, 2012.

“We are very excited to be a part of the Big City Classic again, and are grateful to Inside Lacrosse and Konika Minolta for including us,” said head lacrosse coach Jason Miller. “Our team and fans had a great day at MetLife stadium last spring, and we will work hard to make 2012 even better.”

The Red Storm will play the opening game of the event at 1:00 p.m. which will be followed by Duke vs. Syracuse at 4:00 p.m. and North Carolina against Johns Hopkins at 6:30. Duke, Syracuse, Notre Dame and Johns Hopkins were all quarterfinalists in the 2011 NCAA Lacrosse Championship.
