Five Juniors Make Div. I Verbal Commitments

Garnet Valley midfielder Vail Urso has made a verbal commitment to play at Drexel University. Teammate Robert Raucci, an attackman, plans to play lacrosse at Saint Joseph's University. Raucci is the first in his class to commit for recently-hired coach Taylor Wray. Germantown Academy defenseman Bradley Garcia has verbally committed to Stony Brook University. Malvern Prep midfielder Gavin Weaver is bound for the University of Delaware. Loyola Blakefield (MD) attackman Devin McNamara has made a verbal commitment to play lacrosse at Villanova University.

Major lacrosse honors: EPSLA Showcase, 2011, Central League Honorable Mention, Scored 24 goals as sophomore, Blue Chip 2010-11.

What will you major in/study? Business

Why did you choose school? "I visited several schools, but when I visited Drexel it just felt right for me. I enjoyed the coaching staff and got along well with the current players. I made a decision that I wanted to stay close to home and get a good education and Drexel presented that opportunity. I believe that they have a great program."

Outlook for your high school team: "We return all but three starters from a 10-1 Central League team and we would love to be in a position to again fight for the Central League Championship."

Robert Raucci

College Choice: St. Joseph's University
Club Affiliation: Mesa Fresh 2013, Jags Lax, Competitive Edge

Lacrosse honors: Honorable Mention All-Delco, Honorable Mention All-Central League, EPSLA Showcase, Top 205, Brine Shootout, 41 goals as a sophomore, broke the school record with nine goals in a game.

Expected Major: Business

Why did you choose St. Joseph's? "I went down there and loved the campus. Coach (Taylor) Wray and the Keating brothers (assistants Dan and Mike) are very committed to making St. Joe's a contender. Another thing that I like about St. Joe's is it's not far from home."

What is your high school team's outlook for next year? "I think that everyone has very high expectations. I think we can definitely contend for a state championship. Everyone on the team is really good friends, which I think will help us."

What will you major in/study? Engineering

Why did you choose school? "Academically, Stony Brook is a strong school with a great Engineering School. Coach (Jim) Nagel and coach Watkins and the team were really welcoming on my visit. I like the defensive philosophy at Stony Brook and I felt it was a great fit. Also, the lacrosse atmosphere is exciting."
