Providence Adds 15 Recruits for 2012-2013

Providence College head lacrosse coach Chris Burdick announced on Thursday, November 17 that 15 players have committed to attend Providence in the fall of 2012 and have each signed a national letter of intent.

"This is a group that adds value to Providence College in the classroom, on the playing field and in the community," Coach Burdick said. "I credit the work that Assistant Coach JM Simpson did to secure a recruiting class that embodies the values that are incumbent of Providence College. We have no doubt that these young men will continue to contribute to the mission of the athletic department, which is to be the most respected, to have 100% of our student-athletes graduate and to compete for championships."

The Providence College early signees for 2012 recruiting class include Kevin Blair Attack Hingham High School (Mass.) Chad Britnell Attack - Glastonbury High School (Conn.), Nolan Fillet Attack - Our Lady of the Good Counsel (Md.), Matt Miller Attack Dallas Jesuit (Texas), Jack Yeatman Attack Rancho Bernardo High School (Calif.), Jackson Cruzan - Midfield - Cathedral Catholic High School (Calif.), Tim Lavallee Midfield Cape Elizabeth High School (Maine), Brendon McGuire Midfield Bergen Catholic (N.J.), Chris Nye Midfielder Lincoln High School (Ore.), Christian Ottenritter Midfield Middletown High School (Md.), Jake Newman Face Off Midfield Marin Catholic High School (Calif.), Griffin Goudreau Defense - Bellarmine College Prep (Calif.), Stephen Graziano Defense - West Morris Mendham High School (N.J.), Michael Ryan Defense/Long Stick Midfield - Falmouth High School (Maine) and Jack Connelly Goalkeper New Trier High School (Ill.)

ATTACK

Kevin Blair is a 5'-8", 170-pound attackman from Hingham High School in Massachusetts. The 2011 High School All-American and Patriot League All-Star was a Boston Globe, Boston Herald and a Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic Selection in 2011. As a team captain in his junior year in 2011, Blair recorded 115 points on 65 goals and 50 assist. Blair added 68 points as a sophomore in 2010. On the camp circuit, Blair was a King of the Hill and Gait Cup All-Star in 2011. In the community, Kevin volunteers for the Hingham Interfaith Food Pantry and works as a youth basketball and lacrosse coach. "I would like to thank my parents and my high school coaches, John Todd and Terrence Riley, for their dedication to helping reach the next level," Blair said. "I would also like to thank my Laxachusetts coach, Sean Morris, for his belief in my skills and offering his guidance through the recruitment process. I am very excited to join Providence College as both a student and athlete, to help in its quest for a Big East Championship and a national title."

Chad Britnell is a 6'-1", 187-pound attackman from Glastonbury High School in Connecticut. The leading scorer for Glastonbury, Britnell recorded 45 goals and 27 assist as a junior in 2011 and was named to the Central Connecticut Conference All-Conference Team. Britnell recorded 20 points in a two-game span, and also provided his team with eight game-winning tallies on the year. He was a Connecticut Super Sophomore and Super Junior All-Star winning the Central Connecticut Conference title in his sophomore year (2010). Britnell was a conference All-Academic Team selection and volunteered for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Special Olympics and the KJ Life Foundation as a community leader on his team. "I'm very excited about my opportunity to attend Providence College and experience college lacrosse at the Division I level," Britnell said. "I'm thankful to my parents for all their support. I also would like to extend thanks to coaches Niemi, Izzo and Fay from the CT Bulldogs, and coaches Landers, Hinchey, Fagan and Daniels from Glastonbury High School for preparing me to compete at the next level."
