Coker Lacrosse Adds Two for the 2013 Season

HARTSVILLE, S.C. Mike Martiello of Westbury, N.Y. has signed a National Letter of Intent to play lacrosse at NCAA Division II Coker College during the 2012-2013 season, and Brandon Smith of Lenape Valley Regional High School, N.J. has committed to play lacrosse for the Cobras next year.

A three-sport star at W.T. Clarke High School, Martiello has lettered in lacrosse, football and basketball. A midfielder and attacker in lacrosse, Mike has been a three-year starter earning All-County and All-Conference accolades. He has scored 62 goals with 68 assists during his lacrosse career at WT Clarke. In addition to being team captain for the lacrosse, football and basketball teams, Martiello is a member of the National Honor Society and has been a youth football and lacrosse coach.

A defenseman from Stanhorpe, N.J., Smith is a lacrosse and football letter winner at Lenape Valley Regional. He is a six-time Scholar-Athlete, the Patriot Stick winner and the Patriot Award winner for dedication and effort. In addition to being a member of the lacrosse team, Smith is an avid reader and a member of his high school robotics team.

The Coker lacrosse team will begin their inaugural season of play on February 10, 2012 at home against Shorter College. The Cobras will play their home games at Byerly Park in Hartsville.
