Boston University Announces 2012 Schedule

BOSTON - Highlighted by seven home games at Nickerson Field and five contests against 2011 NCAA tournament participants, sixth-year head coach Liz Robertshaw of the nine-time America East champion Boston University lacrosse team has announced the squad's 2012 schedule.

"I'm excited about this year's schedule from both a conference and non-conference standpoint," Robertshaw said. "In conference play I think it's going to be a battle across the board with every team having a shot at taking the 2012 America East title. When every game is a fight and every game matters, that's when things get fun."

"For our non-conference schedule I like the blend of competition against our traditional New England rivals like Boston College, Massachusetts, Dartmouth and Harvard mixed with quality out of region play. I feel it will prepare our team for America East play and will show us where we are early and guide us to where we need to be later in the season."

The Terriers open the season on Feb. 22 at UMass before a Feb. 25 contest at Harvard. This is the ninth straight time that BU has opened its regular season against the Minutewomen.

The first home game will be on Feb. 29 against Yale before the Terriers hit the road again to take on George Mason (March 3) and Dartmouth (March 7). Notre Dame will visit Nickerson Field for the second time in program history on March 10, after which BU will head to the West Coast for two games. First will be a date with California on March 14, followed by a contest at Saint Mary's on March 17.

America East play will begin on March 24 when the Terriers host Vermont. After they play at UMBC on March 31, the Terriers will welcome New Hampshire to Nickerson Field on April 4.

Defending conference champion Albany will host BU on April 7 before the Terriers enjoy their only homestand of the season. BC (April 11), Stony Brook (April 14) and Canisius (April 22) come to Nickerson Field before BU closes the regular season on April 28 at Binghamton.

The top four seeds from the seven-team America East will qualify for the conference tournament, which will be held at the highest seed on May 3 and 5. BU returns 16 letter winners from last year's team that finished 8-9 (4-2 AE) and qualified for the America East Tournament.
