Full Results of the MLL's 2012 Collegiate Draft

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Cornell University attackman Rob Pannell was picked with the first overall selection by the Long Island Lizards in the Major League Lacrosse 2012 Collegiate Draft, which was held Friday night at the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott.

Honored as the Division I Player of the Year as a junior, Pannell is the two-time reigning national Attackman of the Year and Ivy League Player of the Year. He scored 42 goals with 47 assists last year.

Five Virginia players were selected in the draft, highlighted by first round selections Steele Stanwick (second overall) and Colin Briggs (sixth overall). The Ohio Machine selected Stanwick and the Denver Outlaws took Briggs. Attackman Chris Bocklet went in the fourth round, 29th overall, to the Charlotte Hounds. Defenseman Matt Lovejoy also went in the fourth round, selected 31st overall by the Hamilton Nationals. Rounding out UVa selections was LSM Chris Clements, selected in the fifth round, 40th overall to the Boston Cannons.

Four members of the Duke team were selected, all among the top nine picks. Redshirt senior Michael Manley was the No. 3 overall pick, with the three other Duke players going at No. 5, No. 8 and No. 9. Manley was selected by the Rochester Rattlers. Senior CJ Costabile was next with the fifth pick by the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Robert Rotanz was selected by the Ohio Machine eighth, and redshirt senior Justin Turri rounded out the choices at ninth to the Charlotte Hounds.

A trio of Syracuse seniors were selected. Defensive midfielder Kevin Drew (Katonah, N.Y.) was selected with the fifth pick in the second round (No. 13 overall) by the Rochester Rattlers. Attackman Tommy Palasek (Rocky Point, N.Y.) went in the fourth round (28th overall) to the Long Island Lizards, and in the fifth round the Ohio Machine tabbed midfielder Bobby Eilers (Simsbury, Conn.) with the 34th overall selection.
