Wings Win; K-Hawks Fall Despite Jamieson's 4/4

With Colin Doyle out with an early injury, Garrett Billings took over control of the offense with three goals and four assists. He was huge in the fourth quarter as he tallied twice and added one assist during a 6-0 run over an eight-minute span. Matt Roik was stellar in goal, making 42 saves. Josh Sanderson (3+2) and Kasey Beirnes (1+4) each collected five points in the victory.

Jamieson notched two first-quarter goals, including a pretty diving goal to tie the game at two at 12:04 of the opening frame. Cory Vitarelli, Powless and Keogh notched second-quarter tallies. Powless' was of the highlight variety with a behind-the-back goal at 8:18. After Billings tied the game at four, Keogh ripped a shot past Roik for a 5-4 advantage at 10:58. The Rock added a late transition goal by Kasey Beirnes in the final minute to tie the contest at five.

In the third, Travis Hill gave Rochester a 6-4 lead on a shorthanded breakaway goal at 7:34. Powless followed at 9:23 off an assist from Jamieson. Toronto's Ryan Sharp squeaked a shot past Vinc at 12:23 to cut the deficit to 7-6, while shorthanded.

In the fourth, the Knighthawks opened the final frame with a quick-stick goal from Mike Accursi and the third goal of the night from Jamieson to open the game up at 9-6. Toronto used two of its power-play goals and a goal by Stephen Hoar to tie the game at nine. Those three goals were part of a 6-0 run, which also included goals by Sanderson, Billings and Merrill. Rochester got a late goal by Vitarelli for its 11th of the game.

The contest was the first of two straight road games for the Knighthawks. On Saturday, January 28th, the Knighthawks will head to Denver to battle the Colorado Mammoth at 9:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and The game will also be televised live on Time Warner Cable Channel 98.

On Saturday, the Toronto Rock will travel to play the Calgary Roughnecks. The game will air live at 9:00 p.m. on TSN and will be available on TSN Mobile TV.
