Daniel Webster Names Atkinson New Head Coach

The Daniel Webster College department of athletics announced the promotion of Karen Atkinson to head coach of the Eagles field hockey and women's lacrosse programs. The announcement was made by DWC Director of Athletics Robin Seidman.

A native of Reading, Mass., Atkinson served this past fall as assistant coach of the field hockey program. She is a 2011 graduate of Salem State University where she was a varsity letter winner with the Vikings and earned a degree in Sport and Movement Science with a concentration on Fitness/Wellness, graduating with honors. "We are very pleased that Karen has accepted the opportunity to lead both of these programs at Daniel Webster," said Seidman. "She brings a tremendous amount of playing experience and exuberance to our staff and she fits well in our departmental and institutional vision and we are confident she will guide our programs to successful campaigns and to challenge for a conference championship. We are extremely happy to have her on board."

We have a lot of work to do, but I am anxious to see the progression of the student-athletes over the course of our upcoming seasons."

Along with her collegiate playing and DWC experience, Atkinson also spent time at her high school alma mater, assisting with various field hockey and lacrosse camps and clinics including the Top Notch Field Hockey Camp in Salem, Mass. and also coached lacrosse at both Reading and Woburn (Mass.) High School.
