Hendrix Names McCarthy as Captain for 2012

CONWAY, Ark. Junior Robert McCarthy was elected Hendrix College men's lacrosse team's captain for the 2012 season. In his two seasons as a Warrior, McCarthy has started at both long-stick midfielder and short-stick defensive midfielder.

He has 112 career ground balls and scored three goals with two assists. A Kinesiology major, McCarthy serves on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Hendrix. The Richardson, Texas native attended Plan East High School and lettered in football and lacrosse.

"Robert embodies who and what we aim to be at Hendrix College and in our lacrosse program," said second-year head coach Curt Foxx.

"Robert never takes an repetitions off in practice and I have never seen him take a play off in a game. He is a model student on campus and is heavily involved in orientation, our visit program and other extra-curricular organizations. Robert has greatly improved as a player on our team and has earned the respect of his teammates and peers on campus. He is a young man of character, integrity, hard work and is extremely physically tough."

The Warriors will open the 2012 on Feb. 24 when they host Carthage at 3:00 p.m.
