Shingleton Paces Bobcats to OT Win vs. Panthers

Down 5-1 in the first quarter, the Panthers answered with a pair of goals from Mike Marshner and another from Andrew Conley, cutting the gap to 5-4. Marshner add two more tallies in the second period to keep FIT within striking distance, 8-6, at the half.

Danny Channell, Marshner, Christian Isola, Conley and McClellan combined for six second-half goals as the Panthers forced overtime. They outshot the Bobcats 45-34 and 3-1 in overtime, but came away empty handed.

"Michael (Marshner) played great, he had an excellent game," McAleavey added. "When the team needed somebody to step up, he did. He courageously took several beatings, while scoring some important goals."

Marshner scored seven goals on 12 shots. Conley had a three-point night, scoring two goals and setting up another. McClellan added a goal and an assist. Stuart Nystrom had a team-high five ground balls. Mason Cook made 11 saves in goal.

The Panthers will resume their Deep South Conference schedule Sunday by playing Mars Hill at 2:00 p.m. in Mars Hill, N.C.
